Tae-Kwon-Do School On Cutting Edge
Head Tae-Kwon-Do instructor 4th degree black belt Toni Hartley of Canton recently participated in the Grandmasters Hall of Fame awards ceremony in Dallas at the Westin DFW Hotel.
"It was a great honor to be at our founding Grandmasters table and to hear the achievements of the various Grandmasters nationally and internationally," said Hartley. "It’s wonderful to see how the art of Tae-Kwon-Do has been passed from one generation to the next. We are so fortunate to have a grandmaster and masters to keep our school on the cutting edge here in Canton."
The host for the group from Kim’s Martial Arts and Canton Connection Center was Grandmaster John Kim. The U. S. Tae-Kwon-Do Grandmasters Society is based in Dallas and is in the process of building a Museum to promote the philosophy, principles, and practice of Tae-Kwon-Do and to create a Hall of Fame to recognize individual contributors to the martial art of Tae-Kwon-Do using interactive displays, videos and live demonstrations. This will be a private, non-profit facility.
Hall of Fame winners included Pioneer Award, Life-time Achievement, Outstanding Leadership, Coach of the Year, Competitor of the Year, and Ambassador of Tae-Kwon-Do awards. This is the first year the banquet has been opened to practitioners under the rank of 7th degree black belt.
Tae-Kwon-Do is a full-medal Olympic sport with four Texans making the Olympic team.
