Edgewood Golf Teams Take Titles
The Edgewood boys and girls golf teams both captured District 20-2A championship.
The Bulldogs defeated second-place Quitman by 85 strokes. Edgewood finished with a two-day total of 621, while Quitman finished with 736, followed by Alba Golden with 766, and Grand Saline with 805.
The Bulldogs swept the top five places, led by Dillon Phillips who shot a day one round of 69. He followed that up with the second-best score of the tournament, shooting a 73, for a total of 142.
Justin King was second with 156, Calvin King third, 159; Michael Waites, fourth, 166; and Jason Knotts was fourth with 166.
Landon Grimes of Alba Golden was sixth with 171, and Grand Saline’s Kyle Monty was seventh with 179.
The lady Bulldogs finished with a two-day total of 927, out shooting second-place Quitman’s 1055.
The individual district champion was Kelci Kirkpatrick, of Alba Golden, who shot 150. Edgewood’s Hayley Phillips was second at 197, followed by teammate Amanda King with 215.
